Stanley Halls is a Grade II listed Edwardian arts venue in South Norwood, very close to Norwood Junction station. A fascinating complex of unique Edwardian buildings built in 1904-11, the Halls comprise an art gallery, theatre hall and assembly rooms.
This stunning building is a great home for Jivebeat and Tango Synthesis.
26 Jun - X-Tango Alternative Milonga
No tandas... no traditions... just dance!
Graham Guy will be DJ for the night, so you can expect his usual mix of modern music for tango, including blues, electrotango, rock, electronica, and much more.
Our X-Tango Milongas are all about having fun with tango, about the pure enjoyment of this versatile dance style without all the traditions and expectations of a classic milonga. If we play a track that inspires you to dance ballroom or jive rather than tango then just do it... there are no 'rules' at X-Tango that say you can only dance the one style! Ladies... ask the men for dances. Men... find someone you've never asked to dance before and ask them. Dance to music you wouldn't normally choose. Try something new!
Beginners and experienced dancers alike are always welcome at Jivebeat. We start every class - whether LeRoc or Tango - with the fundamentals to get you going, then add in something for those of you who want something more challenging. This might include a more complicated step sequence or a greater emphasis on styling and musicality, but whatever it is the emphasis is on having fun whilst you learn. There is no pressure to "get it right" at Jivebeat, so you can learn at your own pace and try things out as and when you are ready.
The doors open at 7.45pm, and the evening runs until 11pm. See the individual class schedule for details.
