X-Tango - The end of an era (and the start of a new one)

As I'm sure you all know by now, last Friday was our final X-Tango Neolonga at the Community Centre in Sevenoaks, as the council are about to start an 18 month refurbishment programme of the hall and it becomes unavailable for use.

Many thanks to all of you that came to give us a good send-off (there are some photos on Tango Underground), and we hope to see you from next month in our new home, Otford Village Memorial Hall.

We started at Sevenoaks Community Centre in early 2017 as a LeRoc Modern Jive club, and then in May that same I taught my first ever tango class in that very hall. We continued as a split LeRoc  / Tango group for a while, and then in 2018 we switched to teaching just Tango. Our classes moved to St Luke's, but we kept the X-Tango events at the Community Centre for as long as possible.

Sevenoaks Community Centre has been as much a part of our tango journey as anything else we've done, and for all it's faults (and it had a few!) we will definitely miss the place. But equally we are really looking forward to starting a new chapter in Otford, so come and join us on the 10th May to launch the new venue.

Social Media

We often talk about our YouTube channel where we post our class reminder videos, but that's not the only place you can find us on social media. We are on...

  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • Twitter
  • iPhone App
  • and of course our main website

Please search for TangoSynthesis on all these platforms, and subscribe, like, follow, share, and join in.

Regular Classes - Everyone is Welcome

Our regular class nights are Tuesday in South Norwood and Thursday in Sevenoaks, and beginners are always welcome. There are no courses to start or specific "first day" evenings as we begin every session with an hour of fundamentals (8pm-9pm). Then we move into the improvers & intermediates class (9pm-10pm) where we do something a little more challenging, and this is followed by up to an hour of practise time if you want it.  Entry is £9 for the whole evening.

So whether you are completely new to dance and want to give tango a try, or encountered tango at one of our dance events and would like to know more, or even if you have been dancing tango for years and want to try a class that might be a bit different, come and say hello.

You can find our full diary here with details of everything we're doing for the next few months, but see below for the relevant things happening at our main venues.

Both of our regular classes are running as usual this week, at South Norwood on Tuesday and Sevenoaks on Thursday. Our theme for the week will be "Ganchos - aka The Hook".

We are also in Showfields Hall, Tunbridge Wells on Monday night, with Learn to Tango Kent, where our class theme will be "Sacadas - A Series of Sacadas".
